Sprouting from city of “valour” – Valencia – producer, remixer, DJ and label owner, the
multifaceted artist Edu Imbernon is a truly global electronic music statement.
Edu’s unique blend of electronic, house and indie was spawned by his anthemic remix of The XX”s “Crystalised” – the process was responsible for the discovery of his new production style with live instruments and vocals alongside electronics and synthesized sounds. His now established trademark sound can be heard on his follow on remixes of “Rufus Du SolNew Sky”, “Ry X- Coven” and “LKF Project- Tongue Tied”. This course was also followed via his original productions, “Bitter Fate”, “Lucent” and “Indenait” in the past and “Starbuster” and “S.Y.L” nowadays.
It was during the years 2008 and 2009 that Edu exploded onto the international electronic music landscape. On course to study Economics at the University of Valencia, a last minute change of heart to pursue his dreams as an artist sent him from the sunny climes of Valencia to the epicentre of underground electronic music, Berlin. On the back of his time there, two key events shaped his course. Firstly, “El Baile Alemán” on Liebe Detail, produced with his friend Coyu was appointed “Best Underground Track of the Year” by Beatport and stayed at #1 for 2 solid months. Secondly, his label Eklektisch was born, the second release hitting #1 on Beatport for 3 consecutive weeks.
In late 2012 “Fayer” was born, starting as a small non regular 70 person event in the upstairs room of a small club in Valencia. 7 years later Fayer is somewhat a different caliber.
From humbler beginnings, the Fayer events have enormously grown in strength – the likes of Dixon, Adriatique, WhoMadeWho, Patrice Baumel, Stephan Bodzin, Denis Horvat, Tom Demac, Maceo Plex and many more featuring over the last months, at clubs, open airs and festivals alike, to thousands of party goers at a time.
The label arm of Fayer focuses on bridging the gap between the song based worlds of indie and electronic and the more club focused sounds of house and techno music. Thus so far the label has featured music from David August, Agoria, WhoMadeWho, Adriatique, Fideles, Robag Wruhme and Edu himself. After 11 releases, the achievements of the label reflect those of seniors with many years of development: three Beatport genre #1s, millions of plays online, multiple positions on Spotify’s Viral charts, extensive BBC Radio 1 support and support from Mixmag, NME, Hypetrak, Earmilk, DIY and Pigeons & Planes; as well as DJ support that reads like a who’s who of underground electronic music.
As a DJ, Edu’s truly global touring schedule continues to broaden – from 2014 to 2019 he played shows across 5 continents and more than 50 countries. Coachella, TomorrowLand and BPM Festival were all key features, as well as another Space Ibiza residency bookended by outstanding sets at the legendary Opening and Closing parties.
2015 closed with his first release on his own Fayer imprint, “Fixing Fires”, hitting the Top 10 on Beatport’s Deep House chart whilst also scaling the main chart; and a “Best Artist & Best Producer” win in the Vicious Music Awards, Spain’s most prestigious electronic music publication. From 2016 to 2019, Edu has released on labels like Bedrock, Systematic, Anjunadeep, Last Night On Earth and many more.
He also traveled around the world and hosted Fayer parties in different European cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Moscow, Nijmegen, Alicante and Ibiza; but his secret weapon is in his own city, Valencia, where he has a monthly residency in Marina Beach Club during summer and Next Club during winter, organizing 10 events a year and giving the Valencian crowd the chance of dancing with the best Djs in the world.
